THC High Flow Couplers

The closed transfer system for chemicals, and this term is used to embrace agricultural chemicals, pharmaceutical constituents, and industrial chemicals,  is required for the safe handling of hazardous products. Closed transfer is defined as being the property of a system whereby it is not possible to extract product from a container unless the connection to the container facilitating the extraction is locked in place and the closure on the container can only be opened by using the appropriate closed transfer system coupler.

The action of locking the extraction system in place opens the discharge valve on the container prior to the extraction, and the action of unlocking the discharge connection closes the discharge valve before the connection can be separated from the container thus preventing any spillage of product. At no time is it possible for an operator to be exposed to the contents of the system. There is a non-return valve in the coupler to prevent any spillage once the coupler and valve are separated. There is also a back pressure relief valve within the coupler to protect the seals in the system and any associated connected pumping equipment.

US Environment Protection Agency Agricultural Worker Protection Standard 40 CFR Parts 156 & 170 apply.  Section 4.14 contains relevant definitions of “closed” systems. US Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, UN Model Regulations on the transport of Dangerous Goods is also applicable.

Coupler
Fill or Discharge
Coupler versions are available for filling and suction discharge, back-pressure relief is standard on all suction couplers. Filling couplers are available with ducted exhaust such that air displaced from a container being filled can be ducted away in a closed system for subsequent processing.
3 Cam or 4 Cam
The 3 or 4 cam options enable dedicated system connection so that incompatible products cannot be processed through the same equipment. For example it is not desirable to put a total herbicide which will kill any vegetation through equipment used for processing a plant growth regulator which is intended to control growth.
Viton, EPDM
Industry standard seals made from Viton, or EPDM are available.

The THC products meet the requirements of the US Environment Protection Agency  Agricultural Worker Protection Standard 40 CFR Parts 156 & 170 and the  US Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, UN Model Regulations on the transport of Dangerous Goods.

Texas Hybrid Component products have been tested for compliance with the UN regulations for the transportation of hazardous product and are also compliant with 2011 Environmental Protection Agency  FIFRA Container and Containment rule.
